Chapter Two pages 33-35

“Under authority of article 4 of the G10 Nations agreement the craft has been officially decommissioned. The crafts will be used by the Global police force to respond to and deter rebel terrorist activities. All 23 aircraft will begin operations immediately. To ensure you’re not mistaken with a rebel terrorist you will be required to wear a small crystal bracelet around your wrist as per article 16 paragraph 8 of the G10 nations agreement.”

“ The craft is equipped with a teleportation device, this device will be used to scan areas for rebels and it will not pick anyone up that wears this bracelet. Distribution begins first thing in the morning the crafts will start actively scanning in thirty days. Decreed today by council vote and signed by Global Council leader Ken Jennings.”

“This is a problem.” Samuels said.

“I don’t understand.” I replied. “They can’t find you can they?”

“Hold on” Samuels said.

“Furthermore, in light of the circumstances and the great loss of life suffered at the hands of these radicals. Remember to search for the source within you, the light to guide you. Meditate and work daily to attribute to the good of our society in these uncertain times.”

Fontou exited the podium and headed back for his office.

“Frank if the aurora’s are allowed to scan this place from a few hundred feet they can find it. The reason we’ve been safe so far is aurora being secret and being forced to keep very high altitudes.” Samuels answered. “Plus if they’re decommissioning it, that means they’ve got something bigger and a lot worse high in the sky.”

“Not to mention if we don’t have bracelets and get caught in the path of the teleportation device.” Richards said.

“Wells, send one of the onworlders to get us a bracelet for engineering.” Samuels said.

“What’s an onworlder?” Sylvia asked.

A silence fell over the table and the group started looking at each other. Samuels drew a large breath and said. “Onworlders are our eyes, ears and hands out there. If we need materials or equipment they get it for us.”

“How do you keep this place a secret then?” I asked silently thinking if they need these onworlders why wasn’t I one?

“That’s just it none of them know their onworlders.” He said quite uncomfortably. “To keep this place secret we kind-of abducted them.” I looked at him with a stare of disbelief, but he continued.

” I know how it sounds, but we’ve never hurt anyone. We pick them up in the middle of the night and put a small device in their temporal lobe, when we activate it they perform whatever task we tell them. We use them to make withdrawals from banks, pick up materials and other simple task.” He finished.

My father spoke out. “We’re not the only ones Frank, the government abducts people and has killed them while experimenting on them. And believe it or not aliens are abducting people and they’re not nearly as compassionate as the government. You might say they’re lucky we took them instead of the others.”

“I can promise you Frank this was the only niche in our armor. We ceased the abductions almost eight years ago. We’re a very ethical and moral community. You must understand it was seen as a necessity very early. But as I believe everything happens for a reason.” Samuels said.

“We need to evacuate and move to our tactical plans. Plan two would be appropriate for this state of emergency.” Wells interrupted.

“Why do we have to evacuate? We need to get that disk first.” I exclaimed.

“Our mission is to preserve the records just as those before us. If they find us here they will take everything and we’ll lose sixteen thousand years of knowledge. Not to mention the power that would be gained by the group that controls them.” Samuels replied. From the nods in the room I understood everyone felt the same.”

“What about the disk.” I asked again.

“The disk won’t be a problem.” My father announced touching my shoulder to let me know it was ok. “I’ll take them to meet fetch.” He continued.

“Good” said Samuels. “As soon as you finish start preparing, we depart in 40 minutes. Don’t forget to stop by the armory and pick up your combat pack.”

“Combat packs, you sure are prepared.” I said in amazement.

“It would be much easier if we could stay here, but leaving gives this place the best chance of surviving. With all of our countermeasures we can’t fool the aurora, it’s almost as advanced as our own vehicles.” Samuels replied.

“Ok everyone you know the protocols, lets put it into action.” Samuels finished.

Everyone in the room dispersed immediately, I could hear an intercom informing the residents to prepare for evacuation. My father motioned for Sylvia and I to follow him. We exited the door as two residents entered and grabbed the console. They were moving very quickly.

“We must hurry.” My father said racing for the double doors we just left. By the time I got through the door he was standing by one of the first labs. He was motioning us over. I looked down the aisle and saw scientist packing up things as fast as they could.

They were putting the items into large floating carts that looked similar to a boat. When it was full they pushed it out to the aisle and pushed a button. The cart would leave under it’s own power and from the direction they was going appeared they were headed to the ships.

“Both of you roll up your sleeves quickly, quickly.” My father said. ‘You’re going to feel a series of mild side effects over the next 24 hours. Nothing to be alarmed about I’ll be with you from here out.”

What is this? And may I ask what are those things in the aisle?” I asked.

“Those are self propelled hover carts. They’re loading each person’s research onto their vehicle. And this.” He stopped for a moment and jabbed a needle in my arm. Then proceeded to get another ready for Sylvia.

As he stuck the needle into Sylvia, He continued. “This is our greatest discovery a nannite serum that fights numerous ailments at the cellular level. It also contains special gene additives that enhance certain abilities.”

“That’s why you and the others haven’t aged a day.” I replied.

“Yes, that among other things. We don’t have much time we can talk about these things later. We must go pack up my station, living quarters and get to the armory for our combat packs. We have thirty-five minutes left. We’re going to be cutting it close.” He finished.

He immediately started down the aisle walking over to a pad that was sitting slightly above the floor. He told us to get on and we quickly boarded. I looked at the pad on the front it had large buttons with the numbers zero thru nine. My father took his shoe and tapped three numbers. Off we went at a pretty good pace, hover carts were passing us going the other way.

“What do you call this?” I asked
“This is the Hover pad. This and the cart are items that was invented by Dr. Wells.” He replied. “Other than you and Dr. Marx, that man is the only one that understands harmonic pulse variation mathematics on the same level. With the nannite’s we can learn
