Chapter two pages 42-43

“Look out your going to crash in the water.” I shouted.

“Push the four pointed star Frank.” He responded. I reached out and touched it. It began to glow from the activation.

“Hold on, prepare for a slight jolt.” I heard my father say just as we entered the water with surgical precision. “You just engaged our underwater shields and compression algorithm by touching that.” He continued obviously trying to impress us. We began to descend into the dark water at a rapid pace.

“Where are we?” I started. But abruptly stopped when I saw the bottom of the ocean approaching when I shouted. “Look out.” And grabbed the seat for my life.

“Calm down, it’s a hologram.” My father shouted. The craft rapidly decelerated and came to a complete halt. “Look at that” he added. Pointing to the view screen and the three large pyramids in front of us. “We’re in the pacific ocean about 100 miles from San Diego, California.”

“Now sit back and watch the show. We found that this set of Pyramids was built by an ancient atlantean survivor.” My father said as we drifted along the base the first of the pyramids. The base must have been three hundred yards long. The capstone of the pyramid looked as if it pierced the sea itself. Extending high into the sea, sides covered in colorful coral growth.

As we moved passed the first pyramid my father continued.

“His name was Ophysis and he built these pyramids in 9878 B.C only three years after the destruction of atlantis. He was so meticulous that he traveled to the Hall of records we just left long after it was deserted. With one purpose, to deposit twelve tablets containing the secrets of these pyramids. We sent a team here eighteen years ago and began operations almost fifteen.”

“The monkeys, that’s what we call you outside scientist. Found the three accompanying pyramids about three years ago and we had to cease operations. We passed them on descent they were originally built on a mountain almost half a mile above these. If these were topside you could see the monkeys scratching their heads trying to figure out how slaves built those way up there. Anyway, the hologram is our tool to divert them from finding these.”

My father guided the craft in front of the middle pyramid and faced the magnificent structure. It stood twice the size of Giza and this one had little coral growth on it. The face was slick and gleamed a brilliant white. The light reflected off the pyramid in an array of prismatic colors. He then touched the decahedron shape on the console and began pressing the touch pad while watching a screen of the solar system.

“What are you doing?” I asked.

“Finding the location of Orion’s belt so I can program the harmonic pulse generator. The location determines the harmonic frequency needed to open the door. It changes as the location of the stars change.” He answered.

In the middle of the base a large column of stone began to rise. Sand and coral from the seabed and edges of the doors spread its cloud quickly encompassing our craft. Visibility was zero for a few moments when it cleared the craft eased into the doorway. It was very dark inside I could hear the doors closing behind us. Above us the ceiling opened and the craft slowly floated to the top.

The craft came to a stop and the door began to open cueing us to exit. When we stepped out of the craft, I was overtaken by the vastness of the structure. The entire center of the pyramid was hollow reaching high above us to the capstone. A bright light illuminated from an object floating in the center of the pyramid just below the capstone. Stone staircases crawled all the way to the top of the structure. Open arched doorways sat on each wall four per level the archways were glowing brilliantly from the lights inside. Stairs in each of the four corners led to each new level.

Then I looked at my feet and realized we were standing on steel.

“Ah you noticed we had to build this docking bay. We had to put this over the wooden one that was here to pump the inside down and explore it.” My father said. “Now let’s get those disk up in the computer and see what Jennings has up his sleeves. Now head on up to the fourth floor on the east wall there’s a regular computer there. I’ll be up in a few minutes.” As he walked away he finished. “Hurry we’ve got a conference with the council in less than thirty minutes.”

Sylvia and I made our way to the bottom of the east staircase and my father disappeared through a set of doors on the bottom level.

“Finally we get to find out what’s on this disk.” Sylvia said as we walked up the stairs. I could tell it was a relief for her as much as it was for me.

Chapter two pages 39-41

“Correct this is one of them.” My father replied. “The other is under the sphinx, but the Egyptian government won’t let anyone near it. See as they see it, if it was discovered then they lose their “ancient influence” status within the world. So it will never be unearthed.” He continued.

“Here’s something you maybe interested in Sylvia, we used your Algorithm to index all of these archives. See.” He stated as he pointed to a computer screen on the wall. Sure enough the first software company she created Net Force software. The logo was still shining brightly in the corner, just as she remembered.

“That software is old.” She remarked.

“Yes the core program is, but our programmers have modified it to keep up with the time.” He answered. “Field trips over, we have to get to my personal stuff and get us all to the armory before they shut it down.”

We raced back up the hall and entered into his living quarters.

“Wait here while I grab my things.” He said already buzzing about the room gathering papers, books and a few clothes.

The room was quaint with a small desk on one wall, a bed in the far corner and a small night table. Everything was built of the same strange metal the craft was made of.

“Let’s go.” He said tossing his book bag to me. We made our way back to the elevator and shot back up to the main floor. We followed my father down the hall and through a series of turns. Finally coming to a stop in front of a set of double doors.

We walked through the double doors and made way to the back of the line. Dr. Samuels was in front of us. He turned around and greeted us with handshakes.

“I take it they’ve had a quick tour of the facility.” Samuels asked.

“Very little sir, but the Hall of records was amazing.” I replied.

“You don’t have to call me sir. But now you see why we must protect this place. Jennings must never get his hands on those records.” Samuels said.

“That’s why you never released the find to the public isn’t it.” I implied.

“Exactly.” He answered. “The truth would rewrite every history book. Talk with your father about it in detail sometime. He was one of the main scientists on the translation project. He translated twice as many documents as the closest scientist. Isn’t that right old friend.”

“He’s correct Frank, we worked for three years getting all of that information logged in the database. Now we’ve worked for twenty or twenty one years and have only built one tenth of the stuff in the database.” My father added.

“Next.” The man behind the counter shouted. “Oh Dr. Samuels, Dr. Cole my apologies I didn’t know it was you.”

We followed Dr. Samuels and received a large backpack, which was pretty heavy. At the next station we were given smaller sacks that fit around our waist. I wanted to open them up and find out what was inside, but my father had already proceeded out the door.

With Sylvia directly behind me we struggled to keep up with the old man. But once we got to the hanger we stopped to get on board a hover pad. Finally a chance to catch my breath, I was tired and I knew it was showing. After a short ride we exited the pad at his craft. The first thing I noticed was a name painted on the edge with spray paint. It read “The Connie Cole”.

I never knew my mom very well she died when I was young. I couldn’t help but to drop a tear right there where I stood. The obvious show of love from my father made me feel for his pain. I knew he still missed her and this was his way of keeping her close.

“Welcome aboard the Connie Cole.” My father said as we entered his craft. “Take a seat and listen up, we only have four minutes till we’re cued to launch and in eight minutes we’ll be in orbit. I’ve got a few things to go over with you two.”

“First look in front of me, the holographic images you see is the control panel. Flight controls, weapons, shields and gauges such as the hull temp, engine temp, onboard diagnostics, its all here. Flight paths can be uploaded to the mainframe and autopilot set here. As you see I just did.”

” Navigation is accomplished by plotting coordinates via this touch pad. You simply touch the map pad where you want to go, as you can see it then displays on the control panel here and the craft does the rest.” He continued pointing at the 3D holographic map on the control panel.

“Weapons are used in much the same way. This touch pad is used to select targets, just select the target from either the land map or aerial radar side.”

“All other functions are done by touching these symbols along the physical console here. If both of you look at the wall beside your seats. There will be a seam with these symbols in it. Those are sub controls for use during combat. If I tell you to push a symbol touch it and it will engage.” He continued.

“What do these symbols do?” I asked looking at geometric shapes spanning the seam.

“You’ll learn soon enough, we don’t have enough time to cover them all. Now I want you to open your small knapsacks.” He said as a voice emerged over the radio.

“Please move your crafts into cue.” The voice said. The craft slowly lifted off the ground and moved to the center of the bay behind number three.

“What into cue mean?” I asked.

“See the red line we just hovered over. That is a magnetic pulse track that begins at the back of the hanger and goes to the exit outside. When we line up and hover over it, the generator starts sending magnetic pulses down the track. Each pulse is tuned into each craft. The first pulse will actually launch the number one craft out of the hanger. The craft is grabbed by the pulse and pulled like a levitation train.” He answered. Getting a short and simple answer from him was impossible.

“Now you got your knapsacks out yet? Reach in and get the bottle of pink pills and take one. Don’t take the red, blue or green ones, just one pink. It will help with fight the effects of the flight on your bodies.” He continued.

I tossed the pill in my mouth and it dissolved within a couple of seconds.

“Tasty, kind of like strawberry kiwi.” I said.

“What are all of these other pills for Mr. Cole.” Sylvia asked as the voice came back over the intercom.

“UFO 4 prepare for pulse initiation.” The voice said. The craft jerked us back so fast we were literally pinned to the seat. In seconds we were screaming through the hanger like a speeding bullet and out of the hanger within moments soaring through the clouds. I looked at the screen in front of my father and could see we would be in orbit in a few seconds. I was amazed at the things my father and his colleagues had done.

“I’ll take that over a ride at six flags any day.” Sylvia blurted out in excitement. I could understand where she was coming from. Even with all that had happened we were like kids in a candy store.

My father interrupted my thoughts when he said. “To answer your question Sylvia, you listening Frank?” I nodded my head yes. “You have 200 of the red, blue, green and pink pills.”

“What kind of combat pack is this? Where are the guns?” I asked arrogantly.

“Give me a minute and hold on.” He answered. We immediately dropped out of the sky like a rock. I could feel my stomach in my throat just like a ride at the fair. Until we crashed into the atmosphere and the craft slowed down. Within a few moments we were heading straight for the ocean.

Chapter two pages 36-38

a lot faster. So in time all of us will understand most of all the great sciences.” He finished.

“So what does the nannite’s do?” Sylvia asked.

“It’s complicated but as far as expanded learning capabilities go. They basically turn on other parts of your brain.” My father replied.

“That’s amazing.” I said in disbelief. We must have traveled almost half a mile when we entered his section. He jumped off and started grabbing things tossing them into his hover cart.

“What can I do to help Dr. Cole? Sylvia asked.

“Yes grab everything in that cabinet beside you and put it in the cart.” My father replied. “And Frank get those boxes there and do the same.” He ordered.

“Yes sir.” I responded feeling like an 8 year old again. He just looked up and smiled and with our shared humor glanced over at Sylvia while raising his eyebrows a couple of times at me. I could see him chuckling under his breath. I could tell he still loved to tease me about girls. That was dear old dad he hadn’t changed a bit and that made me crack a smile.

We gathered up everything pretty quickly and jumped on a hover pad on the opposite side of the aisle. We traveled about halfway back when we stopped at a station. A woman was frantically loading her cart. You could tell she was having a hard time keeping it together. Her slick black hair was falling out of her ponytail onto her slender shoulders.

“Calm down Molly.” My father said. “We’re going to be ok. I would’ve been here sooner but you weren’t at your station when we passed the first time. And I need you to initialize Fetch for me.” He moved towards her and gave her a hug.

“I’m just on edge, worried that Jennings and his bunch are going to catch us. I went to the armory first.” Molly replied. “And who are these striking young people Frank?”

“This is my son Frank jr. and his friend Dr. Sylvia Personae. Can you activate fetch, Frank will give you a hand getting everything together. Sylvia and I need to use Fetch to get some very important information.” He continued.

“Sure, there you go.” She replied as she entered a code into a console similar to the one in the conference room.

“Ok Sylvia put both hands on the globe and concentrate on the items we want. I want you to visualize the moment you hid them. My father said.

I started to ask a question but Molly jabbed me with her elbow and gave me the shush sign.

“Can you see the first disk you hid?” he asked.

“Yes.” She replied as a flash of light engulfed the table in the corner.

“Can you see the second?” he asked.

“Yes” Another burst of light.

“The third”

“Yes”

“The fourth”

“Yes”

“Release the globe we’re finished.” He said.

She let go of the globe and immediately collapsed onto the floor. You could see she was drained from the experience.

“What just happened?” I asked as my father leaned over to check on her.

“What happened?” Sylvia asked a second later as she came out of her stupor.

“You just transported all four disk here by thought, thanks to Molly’s ingenuity and imagination I might add.” He replied.

“How?” I asked picking up the disk from what appeared to be the receiver.

“The shot I gave you gives you the ability to use the technology we develop. It’s a failsafe mechanism in case it falls into the wrong hands. Sylvia is just experiencing growing pains so to speak. It was very early for her to try this but it had to be done. As you and her get stronger, the instruments will become easier to control.” He answered.

“Physic abilities.” I said confused.

“Not exactly, you use your mind to power the machine and tell it what to teleport. It’s a very advanced teleportation device. Mollies trying to build small stand alone models that we can wear on our persons.” He replied.

“I could transport MABIS here with it couldn’t I?” I asked.

“I wish it was that easy. Right now MABIS will collapse the portal whenever it opens close to it. If it was off that’s another story.” He responded.

“Well it’s the start of a plan.” I said gratified at myself. It was always a competition between my father and I. He would always beat me in whatever we played or did. Growing up in my household wasn’t like others. From the time I was ten my father was using me as an assistant in his lab projects at home. I learned so much during those years, but that ended when I was sixteen. I looked over at him and couldn’t stop thinking how happy I was to see him again.

“Now let’s get Fetch loaded up so we can finish up.” He continued interrupting my daydream.

We loaded all of Mollies things into her hover cart and Sylvia rested to regain her strength. We all loaded up on the hover pad and in a few minutes we were back at the main doors. My father jumped off the pad and quickly motioned us to catch up.

“You move pretty well for an 82 year old man.” I yelled trotting to catch up with him.

Down from the conference room was another hall. He was waiting for us there and pointed to a small elevator across from him. We all jumped in and with a push of a button it felt as if we got shot out of a cannon.

“You just traveled half a mile in less than 6 seconds.” My father said. “I wish I had time to give you the full tour. You would be amazed at what we’ve done with this place.”

“So all of you built all of this?” Sylvia asked with a skeptical tone.

“You’re correct in your tonal suggestion. When Samuels found this place it already had most of the lighting, this elevator, the barracks were walking to now and something that made all of this possible.” He answered.

“We don’t have much time but follow me. There’s my room.” he pointed out as we trotted down the hall. At the end of the hall was another set of doors, when he opened it reflections took my eyesight momentarily.

“This is phenomenal.” I gasped looking at a library filled with emerald tablets. The shelves followed the staircase that encircled the room three times. Row upon row of shelves lined the center six shelves high.

“Quite a sight isn’t it, thirteen thousand tablets total.” He stated. We’ve translated every tablet in this room and have them stored in a database.

“This is the Hall of Records.” Sylvia said.

Chapter Two pages 33-35

“Under authority of article 4 of the G10 Nations agreement the craft has been officially decommissioned. The crafts will be used by the Global police force to respond to and deter rebel terrorist activities. All 23 aircraft will begin operations immediately. To ensure you’re not mistaken with a rebel terrorist you will be required to wear a small crystal bracelet around your wrist as per article 16 paragraph 8 of the G10 nations agreement.”

“ The craft is equipped with a teleportation device, this device will be used to scan areas for rebels and it will not pick anyone up that wears this bracelet. Distribution begins first thing in the morning the crafts will start actively scanning in thirty days. Decreed today by council vote and signed by Global Council leader Ken Jennings.”

“This is a problem.” Samuels said.

“I don’t understand.” I replied. “They can’t find you can they?”

“Hold on” Samuels said.

“Furthermore, in light of the circumstances and the great loss of life suffered at the hands of these radicals. Remember to search for the source within you, the light to guide you. Meditate and work daily to attribute to the good of our society in these uncertain times.”

Fontou exited the podium and headed back for his office.

“Frank if the aurora’s are allowed to scan this place from a few hundred feet they can find it. The reason we’ve been safe so far is aurora being secret and being forced to keep very high altitudes.” Samuels answered. “Plus if they’re decommissioning it, that means they’ve got something bigger and a lot worse high in the sky.”

“Not to mention if we don’t have bracelets and get caught in the path of the teleportation device.” Richards said.

“Wells, send one of the onworlders to get us a bracelet for engineering.” Samuels said.

“What’s an onworlder?” Sylvia asked.

A silence fell over the table and the group started looking at each other. Samuels drew a large breath and said. “Onworlders are our eyes, ears and hands out there. If we need materials or equipment they get it for us.”

“How do you keep this place a secret then?” I asked silently thinking if they need these onworlders why wasn’t I one?

“That’s just it none of them know their onworlders.” He said quite uncomfortably. “To keep this place secret we kind-of abducted them.” I looked at him with a stare of disbelief, but he continued.

” I know how it sounds, but we’ve never hurt anyone. We pick them up in the middle of the night and put a small device in their temporal lobe, when we activate it they perform whatever task we tell them. We use them to make withdrawals from banks, pick up materials and other simple task.” He finished.

My father spoke out. “We’re not the only ones Frank, the government abducts people and has killed them while experimenting on them. And believe it or not aliens are abducting people and they’re not nearly as compassionate as the government. You might say they’re lucky we took them instead of the others.”

“I can promise you Frank this was the only niche in our armor. We ceased the abductions almost eight years ago. We’re a very ethical and moral community. You must understand it was seen as a necessity very early. But as I believe everything happens for a reason.” Samuels said.

“We need to evacuate and move to our tactical plans. Plan two would be appropriate for this state of emergency.” Wells interrupted.

“Why do we have to evacuate? We need to get that disk first.” I exclaimed.

“Our mission is to preserve the records just as those before us. If they find us here they will take everything and we’ll lose sixteen thousand years of knowledge. Not to mention the power that would be gained by the group that controls them.” Samuels replied. From the nods in the room I understood everyone felt the same.”

“What about the disk.” I asked again.

“The disk won’t be a problem.” My father announced touching my shoulder to let me know it was ok. “I’ll take them to meet fetch.” He continued.

“Good” said Samuels. “As soon as you finish start preparing, we depart in 40 minutes. Don’t forget to stop by the armory and pick up your combat pack.”

“Combat packs, you sure are prepared.” I said in amazement.

“It would be much easier if we could stay here, but leaving gives this place the best chance of surviving. With all of our countermeasures we can’t fool the aurora, it’s almost as advanced as our own vehicles.” Samuels replied.

“Ok everyone you know the protocols, lets put it into action.” Samuels finished.

Everyone in the room dispersed immediately, I could hear an intercom informing the residents to prepare for evacuation. My father motioned for Sylvia and I to follow him. We exited the door as two residents entered and grabbed the console. They were moving very quickly.

“We must hurry.” My father said racing for the double doors we just left. By the time I got through the door he was standing by one of the first labs. He was motioning us over. I looked down the aisle and saw scientist packing up things as fast as they could.

They were putting the items into large floating carts that looked similar to a boat. When it was full they pushed it out to the aisle and pushed a button. The cart would leave under it’s own power and from the direction they was going appeared they were headed to the ships.

“Both of you roll up your sleeves quickly, quickly.” My father said. ‘You’re going to feel a series of mild side effects over the next 24 hours. Nothing to be alarmed about I’ll be with you from here out.”

What is this? And may I ask what are those things in the aisle?” I asked.

“Those are self propelled hover carts. They’re loading each person’s research onto their vehicle. And this.” He stopped for a moment and jabbed a needle in my arm. Then proceeded to get another ready for Sylvia.

As he stuck the needle into Sylvia, He continued. “This is our greatest discovery a nannite serum that fights numerous ailments at the cellular level. It also contains special gene additives that enhance certain abilities.”

“That’s why you and the others haven’t aged a day.” I replied.

“Yes, that among other things. We don’t have much time we can talk about these things later. We must go pack up my station, living quarters and get to the armory for our combat packs. We have thirty-five minutes left. We’re going to be cutting it close.” He finished.

He immediately started down the aisle walking over to a pad that was sitting slightly above the floor. He told us to get on and we quickly boarded. I looked at the pad on the front it had large buttons with the numbers zero thru nine. My father took his shoe and tapped three numbers. Off we went at a pretty good pace, hover carts were passing us going the other way.

“What do you call this?” I asked
“This is the Hover pad. This and the cart are items that was invented by Dr. Wells.” He replied. “Other than you and Dr. Marx, that man is the only one that understands harmonic pulse variation mathematics on the same level. With the nannite’s we can learn

Chapter Two pages 30-32

“Yes, the backwoods Utah cops figured they disappeared like everyone else today. They reported it to the missing persons special hotline instead of calling it in. Our contact at the center for missing persons reported it to me just a moment ago.” Oz replied.

Jennings looked at Oz and said. “Call our friend Fontou over at the intelligence bureau and tell him to start phase three as soon as possible. And what of the unaffected?

“Only a portion of the unaffected have been detained 23,690 total and the rest are being located and will be apprehended by the six am in the morning.” Oz answered. “We placed one hundred of them at the bio-lab in Utah. A group of our best scientist has begun testing to find out why the realignment didn’t work on them.”

“Good work now I know why I keep you around. Forget about the manhunts call them off. After you make that call they won’t have a choice anyway.”

6:19pm somewhere in South America

The hallway we entered was very large a semi-truck could drive down it with room to spare. Large crystal light beams stretched down the sides of the hall. Samuels opened the first door he came to on the right and held it open so we could enter.

When we stepped inside it was like being transported to a palace. The room was stunningly beautiful with twelve fully armored 14th century knights encompassing the room. In the middle of the room was a large mahogany conference table with 7 people sitting around it. Except for one he was standing over by the mahogany bookshelf.

I immediately recognized almost everyone at the table. One thing was for sure everyone looked the same as the last time I saw them. I thought that was strange seeing how some of the scientist supposedly died over 20 years ago.

Even Samuels, that’s when I did the math in my head. Samuels was 42 when he disappeared in seventy-five that would make him seventy-five years old. He looked nothing like a seventy five year old man.

“Dr Cole, there’s someone that has been waiting to see you.” Samuels said.

When Samuels said that I immediately looked at the man standing by the bookshelf. He slowly turned around and in an all too familiar tone I heard the words I haven’t heard in 24 years.

“Hello Son.” Said my father.

I was speechless, I looked at Sylvia and she just smiled and gave me a wonderful look. I couldn’t control myself it was like I was 8 years old again. I ran across the room and grabbed my father tightly. What a feeling to put my arms around him again.

“I thought you was dead.” I said with tears pouring out of my eyes.

“Actually Son, I was almost dead. When a light appeared around me and lifted right out of the fire. The next thing I knew Dr. Samuels was explaining what he did and why.” My father explained. “I wanted to tell you so badly son, but you’ve got to understand the importance of maintaining the secrecy of what we do here.”

“You haven’t aged a day dad, how old are you 82?” I asked.

“Yes my son, I’m 82.” He answered.

“How do you do it?” I asked.

Right then Samuels announced. “I hate to interrupt the family reunion, but times wasting. Jennings will know we grabbed them and will start searching for our location very soon. We need to prepare, so if I may ”

I turned to the group in disbelief.

“So you all know what Jennings did?” I said loudly. “Why didn’t you stop him?” I asked.
“Most importantly how come none of you were affected by the particle realignment?” I added fervently.

“We’re dead, the program didn’t count for the dead as far as we know. As far as the facility goes luckily we installed a shield around the facility a few years back. The forest landscape code Ms. Personae’s team wrote into this area simply slid off the shield. We protected numerous sites this way.” Samuels replied.

“If you can fly up there why don’t you take out the satellites?” I responded.

“Each satellite is armed with a level 4 ion cannon and a pulse shield. No one can get close.” My father said. “Plus the Air Force has twenty four aurora aircraft. They’re good enough to get us when we’re not looking or if they have us outnumbered, but head to head our ships are far superior.”

“We need to get to Sylvia’s house now.” I said.

“Why?” My father asked.

“Sylvia has a copy of the Tri-Tech hard drive hidden in her house. That’s where we was going when Samuels grabbed us.” I answered. The table got quiet as everyone realized what I had just said.

The red headed lady beside Sylvia spoke up. “What do you know so far?”

“Oh, forgive me. Dr. Cole this is Dr. Amanda Richards biogenetic expert, died 1984.” Samuels said with a chuckle. “This is Dr. Alexander, Dr. Holman, Dr. Spikes, Dr. Yosi, Dr. Wells and Dr. Pation. Along with your father, we comprise the council elected by the scientist living here.” Samuels added.

Sylvia immediately cut in and told them what she knew about Jennings plans. Along with a detail description of what we had seen inside the complex. All of them, even my father, sat listening intrigued by the super soldiers and the plans for the clone swapping.

She was just finishing her story when a woman stuck her head in the door and told us to turn the receiver on and tune into CNN.

“What now.” Samuels exclaimed while he walked to a small console sitting in front of the room. He touched one of the crystals and an image appeared above the console. Much nicer than the hologram we was working with on ADORA. This was real time television signal, beautiful. One thing was certain this was the place to begin an attack on Jennings.

TV announcer: We are now taking you to the Global council building for an impromptu press conference. The Global intelligence agency director Gerald Fontou is preparing to make a statement.

The camera follows as Fontou exits out of the building and approached the podium.

Fontou: “At 6pm this evening we apprehended a team of rebels responsible for the disappearances. They managed to hijack eight top-secret aircraft, from a Nevada test site, with the aid of an insider. That aircraft the hijacked goes by the name of Aurora. In 1994 the then USA decommissioned the Stealth and began using it for high altitude monitoring of enemy countries.”

“Since the two thousand and five terrorist attacks that formed the G10 and ultimately the global council, the global community has worked together to achieve space flight and develop technology to defend the earth from hostile races. Since the inception of the SETI project no aliens have been encountered prompting a review that began late last year. The review board determined the money spent on these craft would be better spent in a law enforcement capacity.”

“If you’ll point your cameras to the field on the left you’ll see the machine we’re discussing.”

Out of nowhere a large triangular shaped aircraft hovering about ten feet above the ground uncloaked.

Fontou continued: “This aircraft is armed with ion pulse cannons and when initiated will disintegrate anything in it’s path without any visible evidence. The rebels attempted to usher in their “Rapture” by maliciously killing 144,000 people and destroying eighteen global government buildings.”

Chapter two pages 27-29

“Sylvia Personae, please step out of the vehicle with your hands up.” The tall cop yelled.

I put my hands up and turned to the officer, looking at Sylvia as she glanced back at me in disbelief. As I finished turning I saw something out of the corner of my eye, I saw something phenomenal.

In a blink of an eye Sylvia’s seat glowed white and she just disappeared.

The cop looked at me with a bewildered stare and ordered me to the ground. When I looked at my feet, I saw a flash of light around my waist. Everything was totally white for a few seconds.

The next thing I saw was Sylvia standing in front of me. It appeared that we were in a large circular room.

“Welcome Dr. Cole and Dr. Personae.” Someone said behind us. We immediately turned around and was awe struck at what we saw. It wasn’t the man we were looking at either. Behind him was a large window and we could see the entire earth. He was in front of us, his face was very familiar to me, but his wardrobe was like a monks robe. It was a radiant blue color with golden stitching around the neck. It ran down the arms surrounding the bottom with an exquisite pattern of shapes and circles.

“I know you’re a little disoriented. It will go away in a moment.” The man said.

“We’re orbiting earth.” Sylvia exclaimed.

“Yes you’re on an aircraft and take a seat quickly, we’re descending.” He replied.

“Who are you?” I yelled. “And what are we doing here? Do you work for Jennings?” I continued.

“Dr. Samuels, in a minute and NO. Now sit down.” Samuels responded.

“I’m not sitting down till you answer me.” I yelled back at him.

He sat down just before the craft slammed into the atmosphere. I immediately fell to the floor and was on my knees when I looked up to see him looking at me.

“I told you to sit down.” He jested.

“Very funny.” I replied as I crawled to a seat and hoisted myself up. Sylvia was chuckling under her breath.

“You’re not worried?” I whispered to Sylvia.

“That’s Dr. Lewis Samuels, I know his face anywhere Frank.” She answered.

“But he’s dead.” I whispered back.

“Not dead Dr. Cole, I’m alive and well as well as someone else you else you know. Samuels remarked out of the blue.

“What are you talking about, someone else I know. You said you didn’t work for Jennings then what are we doing here? I replied.

“It will all be clear in a few minutes.” Samuels said.

“We have something we have to do and you’re screwing up our plans.” I shouted noticeably upset.

“We’re here, see the screen.” Samuels said as he pointed at the large window and lush jungle extended for as far as the eye could see. We immediately stopped and began to descend slowly.

“Rumor had it you built 20 of these since the 60’s and that the discovery of anti-gravity was the reason you were killed.” Said Sylvia.

“That’s two thirds true. As you see I’m alive.” I remarked.

“I always thought there was something to the internet stuff. I read an article that said you faked your death and assisted other scientist in faking theirs. The story claimed you went to South America and started a secret scientific community.” Sylvia continued.

“Where are we?” I interrupted still upset that we couldn’t get to the disk.

“South America” answered Samuels.

I looked at Sylvia she was looking down at her watch.

“It’s 5:47 we made it to South America in less than 10 minutes.’ Sylvia exclaimed.

“Would’ve been faster if Dr. Cole would’ve sat down sooner.” Samuels replied. “And yes the article is true. I’ve helped many scientists rid themselves of fear. See, when you work for a country, they can do whatever they want with what you create or discover. You have no say whatsoever. The fear actually prohibits the growth of science.” Samuels continued. “What we’ve done is sacrifice our notoriety and fame to study real science without boundaries.”

“Why did you snatch us up, that’s what I want to know Dr. Samuels.” I barked as the craft stopped moving and a door opened to our left.

“You’ll find out right now Dr. Cole.” He replied.

When we exited the craft Sylvia could barely control herself. We were in an underground hanger that was at least five football fields long. The ceiling rose to an arching point of over 200 ft and was carved out of a very dark rock. The entire hanger was lit yet there was not one electrical plug or wire on the walls. Running down the center of the ceiling was a ten foot beam of crystal. The crystal was emitting enough light to light every inch of the hanger.

As far as the eye could see were other aircraft. All exactly the same as the one we just exited. The hulls were light silver and shimmered as if made of glass. Most of the crafts were triangular in shape with large circular bellies. One sitting in the rear of the hanger was shaped like a half circle and about five times larger than the others.

“Almost everyone that lives here is proficient at flying these. We call them UFO’s for a joke. You just left UFO 1 and we have a total of 36 craft.” Samuels said. “This way.” He added as he headed for a set of large double doors.

“How do you know Jennings didn’t track you? He owns the sky’s.” I asked.

“Those vehicles are equipped with technology that allows us to fly undetected. In time you’ll learn how it all works.” Samuels replied.

“In time, I don’t have time, we have things to do. We have to stop Jennings.” I said in a frustrated tone.

“You can’t do this alone and we’ve got the resources here to make it happen. All of us here know what is going on and are working towards that goal too Dr. Cole.” Samuels replied as he opened the double doors.

Everything I was feeling simply fell by the wayside when I peered through the doors for the first time. The floor gleamed as if of diamond, but was clearly well shined marble. From the ceiling hung wagon wheel shaped crystal chandeliers without bulbs. The chandeliers shined just as brightly as the crystal in the hanger.

For hundreds of yards to the east and west I could see people buzzing about there work. We followed the walkway to the intersection with a large walkway that divided the large room. Each of them wearing very exquisite white robes, as if they were monks not scientist.

Dr Samuels stopped and said. “These are the labs in which we do our studies. Everything from Biology to Unified field theory is studied here and all work is done out in the open. There’s no misuse of any technology or unethical practices. We all work toward a common goal here.”

Samuels turned and continued walking towards another set of double doors.

“How do you fund all of this?” I asked Samuels.

“Quite a question from a man that doesn’t trust his own host.” He replied.

“But just to show you how much I trust you, I’ll tell you a little bit.” He added.

“I found this place in august of nineteen sixty four on a trip to study apes, a vacation mind you. In 1972 I built an ion device that Tesla had designed but never built. When we finished the military seized it and turned it into an ion cannon. That’s what prompted me to fake my death and come to this place in 75. I couldn’t take the fact that they turned something so good into something so bad. But anyway, we finance this place by using a few select friends to patent and market inventions that we create here.” Samuels said.

“Now let’s get in here to the meeting, the others are waiting.” He finished as he opened the door.

6:17pm Global council center.

Dew had started falling bringing a slight chill to the warm summer breeze. The smell of the salty sea lingered in the air from the cold Atlantic waters. The center was a majestic building standing two hundred and seventy five stories. It was the very first super high rise built in the United States. The building had eight large beams that ran from the top of the building down two hundred floors and softly arced to meet the ground.

These massive columns resembled a water slide they caught the strong winds from above and carried them down into the buildings sub floor parking for ventilation. Each of the eight columns sat against rounded exterior walls that looked, from above, like a flower with eight symmetrical petals. The entrance was a great archway giving way to a marble walkway that appeared as gold. Large pillars with the same shape as the building held a rooftop that covered the large entrance area. A large set of thirty-six marble steps surrounded the entrance rooftop on three sides.

A lone limo pulled up to the steps breaking the silence of the night. Jennings and Marx exited the vehicle still in conversation. Oz came out behind them talking on his cell phone. Obviously disturbed at what he had been told he put his cell phone and raced halfway up the stairs to catch Jennings.

Still huffing from the sprint up the stairs Oz exclaims. “About forty-five minutes ago Frank Cole and Sylvia Personae were reported to the missing persons hotline set-up this afternoon. Two cops started to apprehend them at a gas station and they just disappeared.”

“They just disappeared.” Marx shouted.

4:50pm At the complex Oz and Geo are sitting in an office when Jennings enters.

“Geo, get to the control room and update me on phase two progress.” Barked Jennings.

“Oz, where are we at on the search for Cole and the girl?” Jennings asked.

“Well it seems the program is working wonderfully. Cole’s own wife called him in, but we missed him by a few minutes.” Replied Oz as he tossed a file folder onto Jennings desk. Jennings opened the folder as Oz continued. “As of now Cole and Ms. Presonae are wanted for the murder of one Dr. Voldorf.”

“Very good, I want you to personally oversee this operation. When you have them, bring them to me. Said Mr. Jennings as Dr. Marx puts his head in the door.

“Jennings, we’ve got a problem.” Said Marx.

“Come in Nathan, what is it?” replied Jennings.

“The MABIS reader finished running it’s initial analysis. We found that not everyone was affected by the realignment Ken, there’s almost eighty thousand of them.” Marx said.

“Well that’s quite insignificant Nathan, out of 10 billion people, it’s a drop in the bucket. Just run the names against our programming and find out if there are any key positions that were affected. Oz get arrest warrants issued for the rest of them. Tell the police these are rebel insurgents and are wanted dead or alive.” Replied Jennings.

“No problem boss.” Oz responded as he stood and exited the room.

“That’s a big number Ken aren’t you concerned about it?” Marx asked.

“Not at all, those that aren’t killed will have a choice to join the global community or die anyway. Think about it, most of them are rational people wouldn’t you agree?” Ken asked.

“Yes” Marx answered.

Jennings said. “Back to business at hand, be ready to fly to council headquarters in a few minutes. You should enjoy this we’ll be riding the aurora craft there. From there we’re going to Egypt. As planned.” Jennings said.

“My bags are already packed.” Marx replied.

“Good then, get that list of unaffected people to Oz as soon as possible.” Jennings ordered. “Now let’s get out of here.”

5:38 pm I-80 East

Sylvia and I finished our conversation when I realized that we needed gas and needed it fast.

“We’ve got to try and get gas.” I said.

“Do you have a cap or something in here?” Sylvia asked.

“Yes I do, behind the seat I have a cap and jacket.” I answered.

“I’ll put them on and go pay, you just pump as fast as you can and keep your face down.” Sylvia replied. Tossing the cap on her head and putting the jacket Sylvia exited the truck door. She looked pretty funny walking across the parking lot in those clothes. I couldn’t help but to chuckle at her.

Sylvia walked into the store and directly to the counter.

“Forty dollars in gas on number eight over there.” Sylvia said crisply as she handed the clerk two twenty-dollar bills. Sylvia quickly walked out with the cashier asking her if she wanted a receipt.

Out of the corner of my eye I saw a police car enter the parking lot. My heart started racing as I turned towards my vehicle. I heard the car door open and saw Sylvia sit down turning her head and signaling me to hurry up. I just looked at her and motioned that I can’t speed up the pump.

I looked back at the police car. They had parked in front of the store and were getting out. One of the policemen was tall and well built. The other was short and fat, a typical lazy policeman. They both were laughing and joking as they neared the entrance when my worst fears came true.

The short beady-eyed cop looked over at us and immediately pulled his gun. His partner reached for his shoulder and keyed his mike to report us.

“Freeze right where you’re at Dr. Cole.” The cop yelled.

Chapter One: Pages 21-23

“Well let’s just get you home and get you cleaned up.” Melody said with an unusual happy voice.

It was almost dark when we arrived at my house. We pulled into the garage and immediately went into the house. I asked Melody to get me a towel and a change of clothes so I could clean up. Leaving Sylvia and I alone in the kitchen.

“I can’t believe this, Jennings has changed the memory of people. We’ve got to do something to stop him.” Sylvia said.

“I know, he told me in the control room. From what he said he was doing some rearranging to everyone. This changes everything now.” I replied. “Well I’ve got to get a few things together without Melody spotting me. Keep her busy when she comes back and I’m going to “get a shower”.

“Alright but make it quick, this whole thing is giving me the creeps.” Sylvia remarked as I left the room. I immediately bumped into my wife.

“Hi Honey, I’m going to get a shower now, would you fix me something to eat I’m starved?” I asked. I felt guilty lying to my wife, but I couldn’t rock the boat. The last thing I needed was her thinking I was crazy.

“Sure, coming right up honey.” She replied with a kiss on my cheek.

I watched as she turned the corner into the kitchen and made way to my home office. I found my overnight bag and threw the project disk, a few manuals and my gun. I rushed from there to the bedroom, grabbed a few clothes and raided my money sock.

This would get me by for a while, but not forever.

I ran in the bathroom and stuck my bag in the closet. I turned on the water and disrobed quickly. No sooner that I jumped in the shower, the bathroom door flung open.

“Get out of there Frank, she called them, they’re on the way now.” Sylvia shouted.

I jumped out of the shower and walked across to get my towel. I wrapped up and ran out the door.

“Melody, what are you doing?” I asked. “I’m your husband.”

“I heard you two Frank, you’re planning to do something to Mr. Jennings. She’s a rebel and you’re working with her.” Melody cried.

“No honey, you’ve got it wrong.” I responded.

“We’ve got no time Frank, we’ve got to go.” Sylvia shouted.

“Frank, don’t go with her, they’ll kill you.” Melody cried out.
“You just don’t understand Melody.” I said.

I threw on some clothes, grabbed my bag and we raced out the door. We hopped in the SUV and I looked at Melody as she cried for me not to leave. She didn’t understand that what I was doing was for her. I just hope I wouldn’t fail.

We pulled out of the driveway and sped away. In the rearview mirror we watched two police cars and a van pull into our subdivision.

“I hope we’ve got a big enough lead.” I said. “I know a short cut up here we can take too”

I jumped off the main road onto a dirt rd named salt mill. This road ran straight from here to I-80 and cut thirty or more minutes off the drive time. I glanced at Sylvia, she was trying not to show it, but speeding down a dirt road wasn’t her cup of tea.

“Colorado here we come.” I said with a smile. Sylvia just smirked back and said. “Do you know where were going?”

“Well I know how to get to Boulder if that’s what you’re asking. Where Ash Street is I don’t know, but you can tell me when we get there.” I replied.

“Well you’ve done you’re homework Mr. Cole.” Sylvia responded.

“I’ve followed your work for sometime, but what I really want to know is what is on that disk?” I asked.

“I already told you pretty much everything that I know. It took me days just to decrypt the disk. There’s a lot of information on it. It’s basically a shadow copy of the entire Tri-tech hard drive.” Sylvia replied. “The only other thing I read was part of the super soldier project. That’s when I found the plans to use the CU crystal.”

“So what are these super soldiers?” I asked.

“Well the ones we saw in the elevator are what they call Charlie’s. They look just like a human and have special abilities. Charlie’s are just being used to guard installations and protect Mr. Jennings. What time is it? She asked.

“Almost five o’clock.” I answered. “Puts us at your house in about 8 hours.”

“Then Jennings has started the second phase.” She replied.

“The second phase?” I asked.

“After they have made 200 Charlie’s, the program is set to replace individuals in key positions with super soldiers. This way he has hands on control of them and the positions they hold. He’s replacing over 500 people with duplicates over the next 5 days. They call the men, Alpha’s and the women betties.” Sylvia answered.

I reacted by hitting the steering wheel in frustration and uttering a few foul words.

“That’s really all I know, I do know that the program has 12 phases to complete before it’s finished.” Sylvia finished. “What happens then, is anyone’s guess.”

“Why didn’t you tell anyone?” I said in disbelief.

“I had no idea it was happening today Frank. All I knew was a few pieces and I knew if I told anyone Tri-tech would kill me. I’ve been acting like nothing was going on, but apparently Jennings knew I took the information. I just pray that they didn’t find them.” She replied.

“Them, you said there was one disk.” I said.

“Well I broke it up into four disk and hid them in separate places before I left to go out of town.” Sylvia replied.

“At least we have something going for us.” I replied.

The end of Chapter One.

Chapter One: Pages 19-20

As we all know something of this magnitude is unprecedented, so please stay calm and keep the hope that they may return alive. That’s all for now.

Jennings exited the stage with reporters shouting questions at him.

TV announcer: That’s all from here, now we’ll return you to your regularly scheduled program.

“No answers, my rear end.” I whispered. “He did it, he got rid of all of those people just like you said he was.”

“Not here, we’ll talk after we eat.” Sylvia said.

“Ok, well I’m going to get us a ride out of here.” I replied as I hit the speed dial on my cell. When Melody answered the other line she went hysterical, she was so worried I had disappeared too. I managed to calm her down and asked about Tiffany, our daughter. She was ok so I felt good about that.

I told her that the car had broken down and they my colleague was with me. She calmed down and said she would come get us. Oh was she going to be shocked when I tell her what happened.”

A couple of minutes later the food arrived. We ate rather quickly and I motioned for the waitress to bring the check.

“That’ll be twelve dollars and twelve cents.” The waitress said.

“Here take this card.” I replied to her and placed my master card on her tray.

“What did you do that for!” Sylvia exclaimed. Waitress, Waitress, here take this.” Sylvia handed her fifteen dollars and told her to keep the change.

“Let’s go before I kick your rump.” Sylvia said to me.

We made our way outside and Sylvia let me have.

“We were erased Frank. If you run a card or anything they will find us.” She shouted.

“ Sorry, I wasn’t thinking. There she is.” I replied and waved to Melody to pull up.

We jumped into the SUV and were on our way.

“Melody meet Sylvia Personae.” I said. They exchanged their womanly head nods.

“Melody, we can’t stay at the house.” I continued.

“Those people that disappeared today, I know what happened.” I finished.

“What are you telling me frank, you had something to do with this?” Melody replied.

Then I began to explain to Melody,

“I did in a way, see I wasn’t working on a new radar. Melody, over the past 9 years I’ve been working on a top-secret project building let’s call it a super computer. But this super computer instead of using one and zero’s it uses the base material of universal matter. Ken Jennings breached the lab and seized the machine today. He made all of those people vanish and now he’s after us. He tried to have us killed, but you can thank super woman in the back. She saved my life.”

“You’re crazy, Ken Jennings is a great man Frank. He wouldn’t hurt anyone.” Melody replied. “You shouldn’t make such accusations Frank.”

“But its true, I promise you. Jennings had taken control of the entire world today.” I said.

“Oh, come on Frank, you’ve got to be pulling a joke right. Your not serious about this.” Melody replied. After a moment of silence, Frank your not really serious about this. She repeated.

“Would my clothes be dusty and beaten to shreds if I was lying?” I asked her. “We barely got out alive.”

“He’s telling the truth Mrs. Cole.” Sylvia said.

“He can’t be, Ken Jennings has been the head of the Global council for three and a half years now. He’s the most respected man in the world. I can’t believe you two are saying these horrible things about him.” Melody said surprisingly.

“What, Jennings has been a sub committee member for almost a decade. What’s wrong with you.” I said.

“Frank, you’re really scaring me with this, are you sure your ok.” Melody replied. “You know as well as I do that over the past three and a half years he has done more for the world than any man in history. You sound like one of those rebels. She isn’t a rebel is she Frank?”

“No honey, it was just a prank, I’ve been bored all day and thought I would excite you a bit with a story. You should’ve seen you’re face.” I replied with a fake laugh.

I could feel Sylvia’s knee in my back, I knew she was signaling me we were in trouble. I couldn’t help but remember what Oz said to me about changing something in everyone. Apparently this was part of it.

Chapter One: Pages 17-18

“Frank how did you two get out here in the middle of nowhere? The Hank asked curiously.

“We like to hike, Hank. We were coming up the east side, when we got chased by a pack of dogs. We simply dropped our packs to out run them.” I answered. “We lost our bearings and have been following this road since we found it a few hours ago.”

“That’s quite a story there Frank.” Hank said with a sigh of disbelief.

“But anyway, Ya’ll better hang on tight, the road gets a little rough around here.” Hank added as the truck started to jolt from the bumps and loose rocks that covered the desert roadway.

After the minor beating from the truck was over, I asked Hank.
“So what you doing so far out?”

“I’m returning from a dig. I’m a geologist at the University of Nevada. We’ve been pulling some samples of a cavern about 40 miles back the other way.” Hank replied.

“The way you and lovely here was wandering, you two would’ve died if you kept walking that way. There’s nothing for 100 miles after the dig site.” He added.

“So where can I drop you off?” Hank asked as we rolled to a stop at the main roadway.

“Town, we left our car at the old store.” Sylvia replied as her eyes glanced my way.

“One old store in town coming up.” Hank said as pulled onto the highway.

A couple of minutes later we pulled up to the old store in Knolls. I had been here once before but I didn’t go anywhere except my home in Delle and work. Hank let us out and we told him thanks for the ride. With a big smile he said, “anytime.” And drove off.

“I’ll call my wife and have her pick us up it will take about 40 minutes for her to get here.” I said. I needed to get home and get my research papers.

“Let’s get something to eat while we wait.” Sylvia said pointing to the restaurant across from the store. “I’m starving.”

Without hesitation I agreed with her and we darted across the road to the diner. We walked in and took our seat, only to find the T.V on the news.

TV Talk show announcer: So you think these people are a part of the rapture Bishop Ramey?

Bishop Ramey: Yes I do George all of the signs for the end are in place. I believe that when they stop counting there will be exactly 144,000 just like the book of revelations reveals.

Sitting across from the bishop Les Flannery responds: This is ridiculous, we all know that book is nothing but all fairy tales and myths. These people were most likely zapped by some weapon the rebels have come up with. Just like our bishop over there, they believe it is the end of the world. Its utter nonsense.

Bishop Ramey: For years you have asked for a sign, what more do you need to believe?

Les Responded sarcastically: Why didn’t you go Mr. Ramsey? If your so holy and sitting here preaching why didn’t you go?

“He was right.” Sylvia said. “They’re fighting already.”

“Unfortunately so.” I replied as the waitress approached and sat 2 glasses of water on the table.

“What will you two be having today.” The waitress asked.

“I’ll have a burger, fries and a coke.” I said. “And here.” Pushing the glass towards her. “ Could I have one more glass of water please?”

“Sure.” The waitress then turned and asked Sylvia, “And you miss?”

“I’ll have a tuna on rye with a salad and a large water.” Sylvia replied.

“Your order will be here in a few minutes.” The waitress said.

“You know you’re going to kill yourself eating all that fat and grease Frank.” Sylvia remarked. I just laughed any reply would’ve been a lost effort.

Right then Sylvia slapped my arm and pointed back to the TV. “Look” She said.

I couldn’t believe it Jennings was on T.V. What was he up to now?

TV announcer: We apologize for the interruption; The Global Council has announced an immediate television press conference to cover today’s disturbing events.

Jennings to TV audience: Global Community, let me assure you everything that can be done is being done at this very moment. For those just tuning in, about one hour ago over 100,000 global citizens disappeared without a trace. A group of the best investigators in the world are working on it as we speak. Unfortunately we have no answers at this time.

Chapter One: Pages 15-16

“Like a fox in a henhouse ready to feast.” Oz replied.

“Good, get the car prepared, we’ve got a date with the media. Geo stay here and make sure the program is running smoothly. We need everything to go as planned.” Jennings ordered.

Back at the vent shaft.

We climbed out of the fire exit expecting super soldiers to be guarding them. Luckily we were early they were still massing in the front of the complex. The entrance we came out of is almost a half a mile away and surrounded by huge rocks. We stayed low and under the cover to observe.

The soldiers were organizing into groups of 4 and setting patrols as far as we could tell. There appeared to be almost 100 of them amassed in front of the complex. We quickly began walking the opposite way.

“What are they doing?” I asked.

“They’re getting ready to secure the perimeter, in 20 minutes, nothing will be able to get close to this base.” She replied. “And the disk I have has information that Jennings is planning on using these soldiers as police for his new world.”

“We need to get to that disk and turn him in.” I said.

“If it was that easy. You’ve seen what he’s capable of, what he done to that guy. That was before the transformation Cole. If he had that kind of power before, what kind of power will he have now? Do you really think the law is going to be able to help you?” She replied.

“You’re right, let’s get out of here.” I said.

After about an hour of steady walking we stopped for a rest.

“I don’t know where we’re at but if we stay close to that old road maybe we’ll come across something or someone that can get us out of here.” Sylvia said.

“I can’t believe that prick Jennings.” I yelled. Finally displaying the anger built up inside of me. “The greatest find in mankind is hijacked by a freak.”

“Sylvia this was supposed to help humanity, not curse it. I envisioned it creating simple things like bridges, roads, buildings and maybe even curing the ill. I simply can’t believe that Jennings did this.” I finished.

“Calm down Frank, he’s used us for years and now we’re paying for it. Every job I’ve worked on for the past 6 years has in someway been tied to Tri-Tech. I bet money if you look, they’ve been involved in yours too.” Sylvia said.

“What else did you see on that disk?” I asked. “I know you know more than your letting on, tell me what you know.”

“Frank, the disk has so much information on it, I haven’t seen it all. I told you everything in there with Oz the creep. Plus it’s hidden and we need to get to it. It’s our only proof of Jennings plans. This is the only way we can expose him.” She replied.

“I’m hoping there’s something on there to stop him.” I said.

“You’re not going after him are you? You saw what he did to that guy in there. He sucked the life right out of him. How are you going to combat that?” She asked.

“If we can get to that disk, we can figure out a way to fix this. This is all my fault.” I answered.

Just then we saw a dust cloud coming from up the road. Sylvia and I quickly hid and observed the vehicle. It was an old beat-up ford truck. I looked at Sylvia and said. “We can we hitch a ride with this guy.”

The old ford truck made a terrible noise as it turned the corner and started down the stretch of road we were hiding on. The old driver almost had a heart attack when she jumped from behind the rocks and started waving our arms in the air. The driver slammed on brakes to keep from hitting Sylvia. She just calmly looked back at me and said “That’s how you do it.”

“What’s a pretty little lady like you doing out here all alone?” The driver asked her.

“Well she’s not alone.” I said as I steeped from behind the rock.

“Hi there, we’re kind-of lost, can you give us a ride to town?” Sylvia asked with a basset hounds charm.

“Well sure, you and your husband are more than welcome to ride into town with me.” The driver replied.

“Ah, he’s not my husband.” Sylvia said in response.

Once we were in the truck, the driver introduced himself.

“Well you can call me Hank, what’s your names?” He asked.

“I’m Frank and this is Sylvia.” I replied.

“And general Oz, take him back to the room with Sylvia. When you get there tell Geo to
kill them quickly, I need you two back here to help start the transition.”

“Why are you doing this? You lunatic!” I screamed.

“If you only knew the half of it Dr. Cole.” Jennings replied as I was dragged away by Oz and another of the goon squad.

When we entered the room, all I heard was two loud bangs. I shut my eyes the sound was so loud. When I opened my eyes, I was surprised to see Sylvia standing there holding a smoking 9mm.

“Let me untie you.” She said in a whisper.

In the corner sat Geo unconscious, tied up and gagged, it was all I could do to stop from kissing her right there.

“Let’s go.” She said.

“Go where.” I replied. “There’s nowhere to go.”

“But your mistaken.” She said pointing to the air vent on the wall. “Hurry we don’t have much time to get into a safe area.”

As we made our way down the air duct, the first vent we approached belonged to the control room. We looked through as one of the goons and Geo was telling Jennings we had gotten away.

We watched Mr. Jennings grab the one goon and he started shaking profusely then just fell over dead. You could here Jennings yell, “The next one that fails me will get the same. Geo, we don’t have time to worry about those two, we have 5 minutes till transition. The program will take care of them.”

Sylvia looked at me in shock at what she had just seen.

“We’ve got to get out of this duct or we’ll become one with the building during the shift. This building has significant changes that are going to happen to it during the transition. He rebuilt this entire building in the virtual program, I know I coded the design.”

“Makes sense since you can’t see the physical changes, from above. Let’s get a move on then, I don’t want to become one with the concrete just yet.” I replied.

“Stop kidding Cole, if we can get to the elevator shaft, we’ll be safe. That’s the only other place that I didn’t change in the building. The control room was the other” She said

“The elevator shaft is that way, so let’s go.” I said.

After about 4 minutes of stumbling through the air ducts we reached the elevator shaft. When we enter the shaft, I barely got onto the ladder before the vent disappeared and a solid wall replaced it. The ladder I was holding turned bright red and looked brand new.

“So that’s what a particle realignment is like.” I remarked trying to joke, but the mood was dead.

“Let’s just get up this elevator shaft so we can get out of here.” Sylvia whispered down at me with conviction.

On the way to the top the elevator started rising. Sylvia and I sped up as fast as we could. But eventually it caught up to us. I was the first to act, In desperation I just stepped off the ladder and onto the elevator. Sylvia followed suit. I could only wonder who was inside the elevator. So I bent down for a peek, inside the elevator stood eight super soldiers. I was shocked to see them and immediately froze.

The elevator slowed to a halt and let the passengers off. We jumped back onto the ladder and finished the short climb to the top.

“Ok watch me and do what I do.” Sylvia whispered down to me.

Then suddenly like a monkey she swung from the ladder, grabbed the cable and stood on the large wheel housing. From there she jumped and grabbed the bottom rim of the vent shaft. After she pulled herself up she looked at me and said, “See that was easy, now it’s your turn.”

“Don’t think about it, just do it. Right down this vent here is the fire exit.” She added.

“Well here goes nothing.” I said as I swung myself out the cable. Once on the cable, I just looked at the rim and prayed I would make it. If not I was going to fall 500 ft. With one leap of faith I grabbed the edge for my life and hung on. Now I just had to pull myself up. Luckily Sylvia leaned over and lent me an arm. Once in the vent I laid down, exhausted.
“What are we going to do.” I said. “When we get out, how are we going to fix this?”

“I don’t know, but we’ll think of something. Right now let’s focus on getting out of this complex with our heads still attached.” Sylvia replied.

Meanwhile inside of the control room Mr. Jennings is preparing to leave.

“Geo my boy how do you feel.” Jennings asked.

“Like a millions bucks master.” Geo answered.

“And you general Oz, I know the wound still hurts, but how do you feel?”

“3,2,1.” He said very quickly.

The sound of the gun firing silenced the zero. Dr. Marx fell over dead.

“Give me what I want.” The general yelled at me as he pointed his gun at Director Simon.

“3, 2, 1” He said even faster than the first time.

Again the sound of the gun silenced the zero.

“That was a bad shot, but the next one kills him, Give me what I want.”

“OK, Stop its 12222012.” I yelled.

“Director Simon, sorry.” the general said as he pulled the trigger again.

“I gave you what you wanted you jerk, why did you kill him?” I said angrily.

“It doesn’t concern you as to why, just the fact that it wasn’t you should be enough.”

“You prick.” I yelled as I charged at him.

“No No No, you can’t do that.” The general said, as he firmly placed the butt of his handgun into my forehead.

“Get up and get moving now, we’re going to the control room. We need your eye.”

Now you can get up and walk or I can cut one of yours out and carry it in there.” The general barked. “It’s your choice.”

“Just don’t hurt Sylvia Oz” I replied.

“Oh, so now I’m Oz am I.” The general said with a smile. “I like that, me and you on a first name basis for once. Makes me feel kind of special. But, you needn’t worry with her, you’re both safe for at least 14 more minutes.” He added.

General Oz gave me a swift kick in the back to get me up. Standing up was difficult with my hands tied behind me but general Oz seen to it that I had a helping yet hurtful hand in getting up.

Down the hall and into the control we went.

Standing by the main computer console was Mr. Jennings and one of the scientists from the presentation. As we approached Jennings turned and remarked, “Ah, Dr. Cole, so glad you could join us for such a miraculous event. If you would kindly place your eye over the retina scanner, I would be very appreciative.”

“How do I know you’re not going to kill me after I do this?” I asked.

“You have my word, besides I want you to see the new creation that you’ve been such a huge part of.” He answered.

I reluctantly bent down and let the scanner do its work. Afterwards they tossed me into one of the chairs we had set out for the guest that morning.

As I should’ve expected general Oz returned to my side.

“Mr. Jennings should I go ahead and do it now.” He said with his handgun pointed at my head.

“Wait a minute.” I screamed. “You said I would live at least to see the change.”

“Well Dr. Cole, I guess I lied to you. See you and Ms. Sylvia were intentionally left out when the code was written. Mainly because we’ve planned to kill you from the start.” Mr. Jennings replied. “We can’t have someone capable of ruining my machine running around anyway. You should’ve known that Cole, that’s your problem, you’re just too trusting.”

“But I do want to let you in on a little secret, everyone is getting a little rearranging done.”

“Oh, and you might be curious to known that your beloved Dr. Marx isn’t dead, he’s right over there.” He added with a snicker.

When I looked up I was shocked, true to his word there stood Dr. Marx alive and well.

“Hey there Cole, I know you’re confused but don’t worry. That was just a clone they killed in there. See we had to make sure you gave us what we wanted.” Marx said as he approached me. How did you think they got inside so easily?” Marx added as he shoved his ring in my face.

A large ring with a golden pyramid engraved in the center. It had an all seeing eye that was encrusted with diamonds at the apex and a large sun of gold dominating the background.

“You see that Cole, that’s the new mark of power. May it be the last thing you see before you die.” He said as he walked away.
“Now Cole, we’re going to get ready for a little party in 8 minutes. I’m so sorry you won’t be joining us.” Mr. Jennings said as he walked away.

“Dearest Sylvia, you’ve been working for us for years. Now please give us the pleasure of hearing the rest of your intriguing story. I was so captivated by the way you ended it.” He said in a sinister manner.

“And don’t forget to tell them about the files you stole, yes we know you stole them.” He added.

Trembling from fright Sylvia began.

“Three years ago we developed a free energy source. The device was simple and produces an almost endless supply of energy. The device and patent were quickly made secret by the government. They came and grabbed everything, the notes, hard drives and test devices, all of it.”

“A few days ago, I found out what Voldorf was working on and that Tri-tech had hired him. Well, I snuck into the Tri-tech director’s office and downloaded the files onto a disk. Once I got home and ran it, I found a digital receipt for ten energy devices. Along with the plans to adapt the device to MABIS.”

“I guess that’s what they’re doing now is putting it in place. I didn’t know what MABIS was until today, and I was planning on telling you as soon as the presentation ended. But I had no idea I was even traveling with them.”

“Oh my lady, it’s not the first time you’ve been used, continue.” The general barked.

“I also found the files from Voldorf’s experiments and when I seen the machine and receiver in the test room, I knew tri-tech was cooking up something bad. To get to the point, you’ve created a device that can create and/or change any particle within its coverage area. The program I wrote was a living breathing world with every human being, building, government structure, everything.”

“But how did you do that?” Simon said in jest. “It would take you years to enter that data.”

“That’s where you’re wrong. Once the shell was loaded, we simply let an automated program input everything that was in the EYEOP global database.”

“Everything in the EYEOP database.” I said in the voice of a troubled man.

“Everything.” Sylvia replied. “And with the 52 now satellite born receivers, they can re-structure anything they want.”

“What, satellite born, I never planned them for satellites. What is going on here? They have lied to me.” Voldorf said angrily.

“I don’t know who you are, but when I see Jennings again I’m going to give him more than a piece of my mind.” He continued.

“Well you won’t have to wait for that, you’re not going to see anything else anyway.” The general said as he pointed his 9mm at Voldorf and pulled the trigger twice.

“What did you do that for?” I yelled.

“To show you just how serious I am Dr. Cole.” The general barked loudly.

“Continue Sylvia.” The general yelled. “Geo move the Ex Dr. Voldorf from the room. Finish now my dearest Sylvia.”

Sylvia had begun to cry, and in broken words she continued her story.

“The files from the computer I broke into had detailed plans. I didn’t understand what it meant, but I do now. After the machine connects to all 52 satellites. It will reconstruct every particle within the magnetosphere. The plan shows that it will delete the DNA signatures of 144,000 people. Thirteen of them will have large changes to their DNA code, giving them extraordinary abilities.”

“The plans also include the development of a superhuman army with MABIS. The virtual program was written by boy genius, Shi Yamanatu from Japan for a game, but tri-tech converted it to CU crystal format. Which means what they create will be real.” She said.

“You make it sound so devilish sweetheart, what we’re doing is for the good of the world. Yes there will be an outcry when 144,000 people suddenly disappear. But we’ve got a plan for that. See in most peoples eyes they were just crazy radicals.”

“That is so true general Oz, that is so true. Crazy religious zealots, screaming hellfire and brimstone, its just what the doctor ordered.” Said a man in the doorway, clothed in a very expensive dark suit with a golden tipped cane in his left hand.

“Ah Mr. Jennings, so glad to see you have arrived.” The general announced. “I was just filling them in on their destiny my master.”

“Very well, I’ll leave you to finish your work. But finish the objective and get Dr. Cole in the control center on the double.” Jennings commanded the general as he exited back out the door. The sound of Jennings cane resounded down the hall.

“Yes, sir” the general responded. “Now where was we? Oh yeah, we’re at the point where you tell me the numeric sequence need to activate the kings chamber now or I kill a person in this room Dr. Cole.”
“Tick Tock, Cole give me what I want now.” The general said as he raised his weapon at Dr. Marx.

“What the heck is going on here?” I yelled.

“Well Mr. Cole this is the culmination of your life’s work” The general replied.

“What, Who are you?” I said.

“You can call me OZ.” He said with a chuckle.

“The wizard of OZ.” He finished.

“Geo, get Mr. Cole and take him with the others” He continued.

“I’m not going anywhere until you tell me what the heck is going on here.” I shouted.

“Nothing that won’t be very clear to you in a few minutes.” He replied.

Right then the scientist sitting at the computer looked over and said, “36 minutes till upload is complete.”

The general looked at me and said, “Let’s make that 36 minutes to be exact.”

Geo grabbed me, strapped my hands together and led me to the break room with the others.

“Are you okay?” Nathan said as I come through the door.

“He’ll be ok as long as he does what he’s told as well as the rest of ya.” Geo said as he exited the door.

“Yeah just confused.” I replied and sat down at the table with the others.

“How did they get in here with those weapons, this is supposed to be a top security facility Mr. Simon?” Voldorf asked.

Simon just shrugged his shoulder and then he said “You tell me, what’s going on here?”

“They were ceramic, they could’ve put the spring and mags in when the lights were dimmed.” Marx replied.

“It doesn’t matter how they got in, it’s what to do now. You know they have to want this thing for something” I said.

“The capabilities are endless if you have other receivers, but we haven’t built but one.” I continued. “We’re supposed to get approved for funding today and start building other receivers.”

“Well I wouldn’t be so sure about that Cole, isn’t that right Dr. Voldorf.” Sylvia said with a smirk.

I immediately turned my attention to Dr. Voldorf. “What is she talking about” I said.

“Well Frank old friend, I’ve got to be honest with you. Over the past four years we have duplicated your work. The one thing we were not able to duplicate was the Kings chamber. We built 52 receivers for a corporation called tri-tech. I had no idea they were going to do this, you’ve got to believe me Frank.” Voldorf pleaded.

“I believe you.” I replied.

I then turned to Sylvia and asked her, “How did you know about this?”

“About six months ago we completed a project for tri-tech. I led a team that calculated every variable for a virtual gaming system and converted it into binary code for CU crystal processing. I thought it was just for a game, something to appease corporate big wigs and their fantasy fascination. But last month when I learned of Voldorfs project, I began to get suspicious.”

“What in God’s name are you talking about?” Simon said.

At that moment the door opened and the room got very quiet.

“Well I don’t think he has anything to do with this. And I’m so very disappointed that it such a brilliant group of people can’t figure it out.”

“What are you up to?” I said.

The general just looked at me with a sinister smile and kicked me in the stomach. I immediately fell to my knees and began coughing blood. It was all I could do to not scream in pain. My shirt had torn and exposed a nine-inch gash across my abdomen. I shoved my elbows against it to stop the bleeding.

“You stupid man, you haven’t figured it out yet? It’s so simple, Sylvia knows, don’t you Sylvia. Yes now Sylvia is a pupil worth converting to our side.” The general said very sadistically. He walked over to Sylvia and grabbed her by the throat and began to rub the tip of his gun in her face.

“ADORA Presentation screen please”

“Yes Dr. Cole.” ADORA responded as she presented the guest with the holographic screen.

“ADORA run M.A.B.I.S presentation”
As the computer presented the screen I continued,

“Ladies and gentlemen this is our new magnetic array binary initiation sequencer, or MABIS for short.”
“Here on the right we have a schematic of the machine. On the left we have the presentation menu. I’m going to sit over here and let our computer ADORA take you on a voyage. If you have any questions feel free to ask them after the session is complete.”

“ADORA begin MABIS presentation”

“Yes Dr. Cole” ADORA responded.

“MABIS or magnetic array binary initiation sequencer project start date 1.21.2000. Project was completed 3 days ago at 6.19.2008. The objective was to create a device capable of arranging the structure of atomic particles and transmitting and/or restructuring them over a distance.”

“This was made possible with Dr. Cole’s discovery that the effect of maldrek exploding in between Jupiter and Mars had moved our galaxy off it’s original course. Through his calculations he determined that the earths year was actually 360 days in the past and was offset by the disruption the explosion caused”.

“Once this was done, Dr. Cole was now tasked with finding how to change the frequencies into particles. With the help of Dr. Marx’s numbers, Dr. Cole found the bridge with the advent of the sequencing chamber.”

“If you will observe the main test room you will see the sphere on top of the machine. That sphere is made of pure diamond. Inside the sphere are 6 more spheres made from Emerald, Sapphire, Ruby, Pearl, Yellow Topaz, and Chrysoberyl cats eye. This comprises the main components of the sequencing chamber or the kings chamber as Dr. Cole has so aptly named it”

“Inside the kings chamber are 144 master nodes and 1300 minor nodes. These are each made from luadron crystals harvested from our lab. When these crystals are at full maturity they form perfect triangular shaped crystals. The crystal is grown from a very rare mineral luadremen, which gives the stone a quality and strength of almost 50 times that of a naturally mined diamond.”

“The nodes are used to transmit energy waves to certain points within the kings chamber.

“The base of MABIS is constructed of 24” thick titanium and houses a compact fusion reactor that is connected to the binary writer. The binary writer writes the desired code to one large CU Crystal. The raw energy is then fed through direct connections with the CU crystal and changed to the harmonic frequencies written within the crystal. The harmonics are then transferred to the sequencing chamber.”

“To keep it simple, first we have the creation of specific energy patterns, that energy pattern is then transformed into harmonic vibrations as its piped through an energized pure CU crystal into the kings chamber. From there the nodes, which have already been activated, form specific geometric structures using specific energy waves to react with the harmonic vibration commands. This machine only needs to reproduce 1,872,000 different harmonic patterns to fulfill any coding.”

“The energy waves, geometric structure isolation and harmonic vibration establish unity within the Kings chamber. The unified energy is then directed to a second chamber and the items programmed into the writer is re-structured between each of the chambers. As long as there is a receiver within range of the kings chamber, MABIS can create anything that we program into the binary writer.”

As ADORA went through the presentation I couldn’t stop thinking about the orders and wondering what the military wanted with this project. I had always had the fear that they would do this. This machine could wipe out entire cities in minutes, erased like a program in a computer. And I helped create it. God help me.”

ADORA ended her presentation.

At this point I stood up and walked the few steps over to the computer and told our guest, “If you have any questions, I’ll answer them now, before we move onto the demonstration.”

The general closest to me stood up and said, “We don’t think that will be necessary”

“Well great I’ll boot up the ADORA demonstration for you” I replied.

Then the general said in a harsh raspy tone, “No, I don’t think you understood me, It won’t be necessary.” With a motion of his chin downward my eyes followed to see a 9mm pointed at my gut.

“Whoa, wait a minute, what’s that for.” I said slowly moving backwards.

“You just stay right there” the general ordered.

After the general stopped me in my tracks. The other generals and scientist rose from their seats very nonchalantly. They immediately pulled out weapons and corralled Dr. Personae, Director Simon, Dr. Marx and Dr. Voldorf into a corner of the room and led them down the hall.

I was finishing the final settings on the machine when the committee began to arrive. As they come through the door, I realized this wasn’t going to be what I expected at all. This wasn’t a review board at all.

The first to come through the door was young woman, mid 30’s with sandy blonde hair that was neatly drawn back into a ponytail. I recognized her from an article in the National physics journal. It was Sylvia Personae, a renowned physicist and teacher at M.I.T.

The second coming through the door was none other than Dr. Voldorf a German physicist whom I had worked on projects with him in the past. He was a very smart man, but very hard to get along with.

“What was he doing here I haven’t seen him in over 4 years.” I thought to myself. “The last I heard, he supposedly has been underground working on a top-secret project for the military.”

As Voldorf emerged from the door, I gave him a little nod from across the room, which he politely returned as he headed for the control room door.

Then, the last people I wanted to see emerged from the doorway. Four military generals, all in dress uniforms and two scientists in ordinary white lab coats I didn’t recognize. Stoic as the faces on Mt. Rushmore, they walked directly to the observation room. Just like a bunch of robots, taking their seats as if programmed to be responseless and cold.”

Marx signaled to start a test run from the control center so I double checked the settings and backed behind a small lab shield.

As MABIS warmed up she put on quite a light show, each chamber goes through a sequencing process. Each sphere lights up in sequence with a series of eight geometric shapes inside each one. When she finished warming up Marx cued the test program to start. MABIS started sequencing the geometric patterns within the king’s chamber. In a great burst of energy she initialized and shot a light blue beam to the receiver. When the beam subsided there sat an old rocking chair. I had programmed MABIS to recreate the exact chair my grandfather used to rock me in and she performed flawlessly.

We quickly wrapped up the test work and I hurried to the director’s office still angered about the military showing up.

Without a knock, I stormed into Director Simon’s office,

“What is going on out there?” I yelled.

With his usual calmness and a subtle movement of his hand he instructed me to close the door behind me.

“Now look”, he said to me in a calming fashion.

“You’re not going to like this news, but I like you Frank and I’m going to give it to you straight” he said.

“What do you mean, I’m not going to like it.”

“Don’t tell me, that the military is taking the project?” I yelled.

Ron lowered his head a bit, rubbing his forehead with his right hand before looking up from his desk.

He didn’t need to say anything I knew the answer right then. Even so, what he said did come at somewhat of a surprise.

“Calm down Frank, nobody’s taking anything from you, you’re still going to be the lead scientist on the project. Just not in charge anymore.” Ron replied.

“The project is being reassigned to the U.S Air Force. You are to report to General Sumner and he will fill you in on the details of the new project.” he said, as he stood up and passed me the reassignment orders.

Ron then moved around his large mahogany desk and placed his hand on my shoulder and said. “But first you need to get out there and show them a demonstration, you’ll find out about the other stuff soon enough.”

With a slight push Ron got me started out the door and walked with me back into the test room.

Once in the test room, I stopped at the machine for one last check and watched as Ron almost skipped across the floor to the control room door. He peered back at me with that all familiar smirk as he opened the door.

“He could be a freaking prick sometimes, well most of the time. And what is he so happy for? He’s one of the most depressing individuals I’ve ever met.”

Even though all of it was true, I still wanted to check the machine one last time.

After the final look over, I proceeded to the control room myself. When I entered you could’ve heard a pin drop. Not one person was talking.

“That was strange”. I thought. But I proceeded to the front and began the initial briefing.

“As you all know you’re here to watch history being made. I’m proud to present you with the very first particle creation machine. I’m going to let ADORA take it from here.

Title: The MABIS Project

I was buzzing with excitement.

Finally after years of research and endless hours of work my team and I had solved the problem set before us. Today we would perform a live demonstration for the technological review board.

The past five years has literally been hell on earth. Natural disasters have literally wiped millions of people off the planet. Several rouge nations have launched nuclear weapons into Great Britain, Israel, France, Germany, China, Japan, Russia and even America. Nuke is a word I care not to hear ever again. It’s repeated hundreds of times daily on the news, because almost daily extremist manage to set one off somewhere. I lost my daughter in the very beginning, she was shopping with her friends when one of those damn rebel extremist detonated one inside the mall.

Three years ago ten nations signed a global peace treaty and established the global council to oversee it’s regulations. Ever since that day the attacks have gotten worse and the stranglehold of fear has pushed the politician’s hand. Regulation after regulation imposed upon good citizens all because of an instable planet and global conflict.

It’s out of control and today we’re demonstrating the invention for immediate activation. It can fix the ozone layer, restore bridges, roads and cure radiation sickness. We can seal fault lines, stop volcanic eruptions and restore destroyed structures. I hope that this invention will return life back to normal and end the military state I call home.

As everyday though, I still had to make the long walk to the main lab. My office was situated in the far corner of the building. An afterthought really, it was originally a large storeroom that had been converted into an office.

It had its advantages, the location was quiet and out of the way so no one bothered me while I was working. But the one disadvantage was the walk.

From my office, I had a walk of about 500 yards down the hallway to the subterranean elevator. All projects that deal with particle physics are conducted below surface for security and safety. From there it’s down 30 floors to the testing floor.

When you exit the elevator, it’s as if you’re in another world altogether. The first thing you notice is the temperature change, much colder here than topside. The next is how huge the testing area is. The whole floor was open, no walls dividing it into rooms; just blank space painted a very bright white. The walls spanned 120 ft to meet with a white semi-domed ceiling.

On the east wall set two large windows that span 80 ft long by about 6 ft high. One was located at ground level and behind it was the control center. The second window was directly above and it served as a view for many offices and was accessible for test observations.

In the middle of the room stood my baby, MABIS. To look at her was to be dazzled. She sat on a large titanium base with wires running from it like the tentacles of an octopus to the control room. When light hits the diamond poured sphere her reflections were majestic. Inside of the large sphere were six other equally exquisite spheres made of other precious stones. Attached to the spheres are hundreds of pyramid shaped crystals pointed every way imaginable. A large red crystal rod extended from to the top holding each sphere in its proper place. I love to stare at her, but today I had important work to do.

I arrived a few minutes before three and began prepping the machine for today’s test run.

As I was checking out the machine I felt a hand on my shoulder.

“Well ole boy, it look’s like we’ve done it”

There was no mistaking this guy, as I turned and gave a handshake to my partner Dr. Nathaniel Marx. His red hair uncombed as usual, wrinkles in the lab coat from not pressing it and a slight hint of Canadian whiskey on his breath. Something’s never change I thought.

“Well how are you Nathan?” I said.

“I’m good, got a few butterflies in me belly, as you shootin’ well should” Marx exclaimed in his thick Irish twang and a slap on my back.

“Well I’ve had my share of them, didn’t get much sleep last night either.” I replied.

“We’ve been working towards this day for quite some time Cole, just enjoy it, it’s not everyday you create a machine that can create or change fully structured atomic particles from a wave. We’re going down to save the world.” Marx said with his old style charm.

“I sure hope everything goes well.” I replied optimistically.

“Well let me get over to the booth and we’ll run the final test and put that worry to rest.” Said Marx.

“The reactor will be warmed up in a moment.” I replied as I hastily returned to work.
